Business Beyond Borders: An Evening with Immigrant Entrepreneurs

Join North Liberty Library and Immigrant Entrepreneurs Summit for this event providing a platform for immigrant entrepreneurs in our community and fostering connections between all local professionals, featuring a guest panel and business mixer.

Ying Sa was born in Beijing, China, immigrated to Canada where she received her accounting degree, before relocating to the United States. She started Community CPA in 1998 in Des Moines and has grown the firm to include branches in Coralville and Bloomington, Minnesota. Ying served on the National Taxpayer Advocacy Panel for the IRS between 2019-2022, is a published author and has been recognized for numerous awards for excellence in accounting.

Naftaly Stramer was born and raised in Israel. Graduated as a Computer Engineer in 1981. Moved to Boulder Colorado in 1989 as part of a sabbatical leave and Immigrated to the USA/Iowa City in 1994 to as a Director of Software Engineering in a High Tech Start-up. In October 2004, after leaving the tech industry, Naftaly and his friend and business partner, Ofer Sivan, created Oasis the Falafel Joint, A Middle Eastern Restaurant which became an Iowa City icon serving the best hummus, falafel and fries.

Shrravonni Paul is a qualified Organizational Development Specialist with an advanced post graduate Masters Degree in Organizational Industrial Psychology and soft skills, specializing in Organizational Effectivness and Change Management for people, process and platform. With 17 years strong global experience with Fortune 500 companies and invited as speaker and trainer to over a 100 more institutions and organizations, she brings expertise in people, behavior and organizational development enhancement to influence growth.

Esaie Toingar is an Immigrant Entrepreneurs Summit 2018 award recipient (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC-plT6XcV4) and holds an M.A. in Industrial Management. He is also the founder and president of Wake Up for Your Rights; Focus shelter; Water and Clean Energy for Livelihood International. Esaie served as commissioner on the Civil Rights
Commission of Cedar Rapids from 2015 to 2023, Iowa. He is the author of A Teenager in the Chad Civil War, Idriss Déby and the Darfur Conflict, and Blessed to Be Here. Esaie is also a documentary writer and producer of Dos and Don’ts in the USA (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQbAFfuni00&t=133s). He works for Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids. Esaie bases his leadership on honesty, a positive attitude, and a desire to inspire others.
