The North Liberty Community Center has partnered with KultureCity, a non-profit to enhance our ability to assist and accommodate guests with special sensory needs, to provide an inclusive experience for all guests using the community center.
Sensory Bags equipped with noise canceling headphones, fidget tools, verbal cue cards and weighted lap pads, are available to all guests who may feel overwhelmed at the Library Information Desk and Recreation Center front desk.
Weighted Lap Pads are also available upon request at the Library Information Desk and Recreation Center front desk.
Quiet Areas available in both library and rec center, inquire at the front desk for access.
Download the KultureCity All-Inclusive App for iPhone or Android or visit the community center’s profile, to view what sensory features are available and where to access them. Our Social Story provides a preview of what to expect while visiting the community center.
The North Liberty Library has installed a hearing loop, an assistive listening system for people with hearing loss to hear more clearly. The loop provides clear, customized sound for people who use hearing aids or cochlear implants with telecoils. This system decreases background noise by sending the sound directly into their hearing instruments when listeners easily switch to their telecoil program.
People who don’t use hearing aids or who don’t have telecoils in their hearing aids can borrow a receiver and headphones at the Library Information Desk at no cost. Alternatively, users may bring personal wired headphones to plug into the borrowed receiver (3.5 mm jack).
For more information about assistive listening systems, visit www.hearingloop.org
